About Meghan

Meghan Vogt, LCSW, DSW(c)

As a former Division I collegiate swimmer who competed at national-level meets beginning at age 13, I know firsthand the pressure, scrutiny, and emotional demands that come with being an athlete. I had excellent coaches who pushed my physical limits—but no one ever taught me how to understand my emotions, manage anxiety, or navigate the internal side of sport. That gap stayed with me and ultimately shaped both my personal journey and professional path.

With over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and specialized training in sport social work, I bring a depth of clinical understanding to athlete support that goes beyond traditional mental performance coaching. My work focuses on helping athletes develop emotional awareness, confidence, regulation skills, and sustainable coping strategies—especially during moments of pressure, transition, injury, burnout, or identity shifts within sport.

I’m the co-founder of a thriving clinical practice, a mom of three sports-loving kids, and a competitive marathon runner who rediscovered high-level performance later in life. Across youth, collegiate, and adult sport spaces, I’ve consistently seen how little attention is given to athletes’ emotional well-being and mental health literacy, despite how deeply these factors shape performance, motivation, and longevity in sport.

Through Athlete Aligned, I offer athletes a supportive, clinically informed space to strengthen resilience, understand their inner experience, and develop skills that support both performance and overall well-being. I believe mental and emotional skills are not just about performing better—they are essential to self-trust, identity development, and finding meaning and joy in sport over the long term.

Who Athlete Aligned Is For

Athletes are often seen as strong, disciplined, and resilient.

But being driven doesn’t make you immune to struggle.

In fact, the same traits that fuel performance — high standards, grit, commitment — can also make it harder to recognize when something feels off.

Athlete Aligned supports athletes across developmental stages who want both mental strength and emotional health.

You might benefit if…

You’re Mentally Strong — But Mentally Exhausted

  • Your mind races before competition.

  • You replay mistakes long after practice ends.

  • You struggle to reset after a bad performance.

  • You’re hard on yourself in ways you’d never be toward a teammate.

  • You feel pressure that never fully turns off.

  • You look composed on the outside but feel overwhelmed internally.

Performance anxiety, perfectionism, and chronic stress are common in high-achieving athletes. Support doesn’t mean you’re weak — it means you want tools that match your level of commitment.

You Feel “Off” — Even If You’re Still Performing

  • You’re navigating injury, retirement, or a major life shift.

  • Your identity feels deeply tied to your sport — and you’re not sure who you are without it.

  • You feel irritable, low, flat, or disconnected.

  • You’re juggling sport, family, career, and expectations — and something feels unsustainable.

  • You’re a teen or collegiate athlete balancing intense academic and performance demands.

Athletes often push through emotional strain. But burnout, depression, and identity transitions deserve attention — not endurance.

Your Relationship With Food, Fueling, or Your Body Feels Complicated

  • You think about food more than you’d like to admit.

  • You feel guilt or anxiety after eating.

  • You’re constantly trying to change your body for performance.

  • You struggle with fatigue, stalled recovery, or recurring injuries.

  • You suspect low energy availability (LEA) or RED-S but feel unsure how to address it.

  • You’ve been told everything looks “normal,” but you don’t feel well.

Disordered eating patterns and energy deficiency are often overlooked in sport culture — especially in endurance and high-achieving athletes. Support can be both performance-informed and clinically grounded.

You’re a Midlife or Masters Athlete Navigating Change

You’ve trained for years — maybe decades.
You’re experienced, disciplined, and deeply committed to your sport.

And yet something feels different.

  • Your recovery isn’t what it used to be.

  • Your body composition has shifted despite consistent training.

  • You feel more reactive to stress or more fatigued.

  • You’re navigating perimenopause or hormonal changes that impact performance.

  • You’re questioning your athletic identity in midlife.

  • You’re wondering whether what you’re experiencing is “normal.”

The intersection of hormonal shifts, fueling, performance pressure, and identity is complex — and often misunderstood.

Midlife athletes deserve support that understands both physiology and psychology — not dismissal, not minimization.

This work is informed by ongoing research into disordered eating risk and energy availability in perimenopausal endurance athletes.

For Parents of Young Athletes

  • You’re worried about your child’s stress, fueling, or confidence.

  • You want them to develop mental strength without sacrificing emotional health.

  • You see warning signs but don’t want to overreact.

Early, athlete-informed support can protect both performance and long-term well-being.

You Don’t Need a Diagnosis to Deserve Support

If something feels off — physically, emotionally, or mentally — that’s reason enough.

Athlete Aligned exists at the intersection of performance, physiology, and mental health.

High-performing athletes deserve care that understands all three.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you offer introductory calls?
Yes! You can schedule a free 15-minute introductory call. This is an opportunity for us to talk through your goals, answer any questions, and make sure we’re a good fit to work together.

2. Do you take insurance?
No. Athlete Aligned is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance or provide superbills. Services are offered outside of the insurance system and focus on skill development, emotional regulation, and athlete well-being. This allows the work to remain flexible, individualized, and not tied to diagnostic or insurance requirements

3. Do you work with both male and female athletes?
Absolutely. I have experience working with athletes of all genders and across many sports, from youth and high school competitors to collegiate and elite athletes.

4. How often would I see you?
That depends on your goals, needs, and schedule. Some athletes meet weekly, others bi-weekly or monthly. Group sessions and team workshops are designed to provide ongoing support that aligns with the group’s objectives.

5. What can I expect from a session?
Sessions are customized to you or your group. For individuals, we may focus on mental skills like confidence, focus, resilience, and managing performance anxiety. For teams or groups, sessions often include interactive activities, communication strategies, goal-setting, and tools to improve performance both individually and collectively. My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative space where you leave with actionable strategies to use right away.

6. Do you work virtually or in person?
Both! I offer virtual sessions to work with athletes anywhere, as well as in-person sessions and workshops for local individuals, teams, and organizations. Currently, in-person is available in Georgia.

I work with athletes across all levels — youth, high school, college, elite, and adult recreational — in a wide range of sports. Whether you’re aiming for personal improvement, preparing for a big competition, or striving for peak performance, our work will be tailored to your specific goals.

8. Do parents or coaches receive updates?
For youth athletes, I can provide periodic updates to parents or coaches with the athlete’s consent. These updates focus on progress and general skills covered, without sharing private session details, to ensure trust and confidentiality are maintained.
